Has Grid Power Supply Improved in Lagos ?

Has power supply improved in Lagos? Let’s examine the raw data of three of our users in Yaba, Ikoyi, and Victoria Island[1][2][3]:

Combined charts for Yaba, Victoria Island and Ikoyi (Dec. 2015 - August 2016)Grid power usage significantly improved for the residential user in Victoria Island. The other two are commercial users though. The user in Yaba did have an increase in grid power usage. However, that of Ikoyi didn’t experience much change in its usage.

So yes, power supply has improved for many users in Lagos. And we’re happy about that!

There have been speculations that improvement in power supply may correlate to increased rainfall. That is, power supply would improve due to increased hydroelectric power generation. So, we examined precipitation data for Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos[4]:

Precipitation/Rainfall data for Muritala Mohammed Airport, Lagos. The data above is insufficient to establish or rule out a correlation between the amount of rainfall and power supply.
